Pixeled Multimedia Teachers get Blogging

We've set up this blog site to make it a more personal forum for members of the Pixeled Multimedia Teachers Association to communicate with each other as well as post up and coming events. Any member in pixeled is welcome to join. All you have to do is send me your email address and I can invite you into the blog. Then you can start posting whatever and whenever you want. If you don't want to enter a blog post you can also send comments about various posts.

Over the next few months we'll announce up and coming PD, tips and hints to run a VET Certificate II and Certificate III course and lots of helpful advice. Hope to read some comments from you all soon.

Comments:
I taught I really good class today in the 2D animation unit and thought I would share it with you. Here is a brief outline.

•Discussion about the importance of character and how a good character can shape a story.
•Play “Guess who”. Banning questions on physical appearance. For example students can ask Yes/No questions like:
“Does the character go out on Saturday night?”
“Is the character married?
“Does the character own leather pants?”
•The winner is the person who has the least characters up when the chosen character goes down.

It was a great way to show students how much we judge the personality of the character by the way they are constructed. Some times it works, some times it doesn’t, but its fun to see how many times it does work, and how similar our perception are.

If you want to continue examining character construction and stereotypes in animation, then Daria is a good animation to watch.
